Central Auditory Processing Solutions For All Ages

Planning Your Appointment

Prior to the central auditory processing evaluation

Able Kids Foundation encourages questions even if you are not a scheduled or existing client. Our goal is to provide you with the information you need to make the best decision for you and/or your family.

Why families choose us

Not all CAPD evaluations are equal. Brief screenings and limited test batteries can miss CAPD entirely. Our comprehensive test battery and client-centered educational approach is recognized by professionals worldwide.

  • We test individuals with a receptive language age of 3 or above and offer picture-pointing tasks for nonverbal clients.
  • Built-in cross-checks keep results accurate even alongside autism, ADHD, anxiety, giftedness, and other conditions.
  • Our recommendations rely on solutions with measurable results. In our review of 1,000 clients, the passive filter improved speech understanding in background noise by 26%.
  • Drs. Locke and Wisdom are recognized experts and have been invited to speak at national and international conferences including the US Autism Association, the National Association for Gifted Children, and the Colorado Department of     Education.

What your evaluation includes

The evaluation includes:

  • Comprehensive central auditory processing testing and a same-day review of your results and recommendations (approximately two hours in our office)
  • A detailed written report within four weeks
  • A one-hour follow-up phone consultation with your audiologist

Recommendations may include practical accommodations for home, school, or work, along with filter and FM system solutions.

Scheduling

Appointments are available at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., and 1 p.m., Monday through Thursday, at our office in Fort Collins, Colorado. Testing is completed in person only. Families who travel to us often tell us the total cost, including travel, is comparable to testing centers closer to home.

Insurance and financial assistance

The Foundation is private pay and we do not bill insurance. After your appointment, we provide an itemized invoice with insurance codes for you to submit for reimbursement if you chose to do so. Our Sponsorship Assistance Program is available to families without insurance benefits who earn $85,000 or less. We also provide payment plans at no additional charge.

Client Testimonial

Our children have had their filters for a week and I’ve noticed a high improvement. Our son hasn’t had any meltdowns and he is much more calm, especially in stores. On Sunday, he was able to sit the entire time our family ate at a fast-food restaurant. That has never happened before! Usually, he is loud and running around, rarely finishing his meal. But this time, he sat still, ate all of his meal, then engaged in a conversation. WOW! Both of our children are significantly more focused on their schoolwork. I haven’t had to redirect them back to their tasks once! Thank you for bringing some calm into our lives!
