Able Kids Foundation is a nonprofit organization and a global leader in the field of central auditory processing disorder (CAPD). Our comprehensive CAPD assessment, client-centered educational approach, and evidence-based management program draws on 50+ years research and has attracted over 4,000 individuals from around the world.
History
Established as a 501(c)(3), the Foundation opened the clinic in 2006 to continue the work in CAPD that began at Colorado State University over 50 years ago. Initially recognized for its work with children, the Foundation is now recognized for serving clients of all ages, with adults becoming one of the largest age groups evaluated each year.
Extensive Training and Experience
Training in central auditory processing disorder varies widely across audiology programs, and hands-on clinical experience is especially limited, so relatively few audiologists specialize in it. That’s why every audiologist who joins Able Kids Foundation completes months of additional training in CAPD assessment and management before working with clients. CAPD is our only focus, so you work with and get answers from a team that has evaluated more than 4,000 individuals. We also know every person has their own story and we look at how CAPD affects each part of their life, from school and work to home and relationships.
Passionate About Education
Able Kids Foundation is passionate about educating our clients and families, as well as other professionals, about CAPD. Central auditory processing (CAP) challenges are common, yet very misunderstood and underdiagnosed. When we have a better understanding of CAPD and the impact it can have on an individual's life, we have more compassion for others, as well as for ourselves.
Research and Evidence-Based
Research and data are the heart of the Foundation's testing and management plan. The comprehensive test battery provides objective evidence and understanding of one's central auditory processing challenges. The data-driven management plan attracts clients and families who seek evidence-based solutions.
