“You have changed my daughter’s life – she had trouble relating to peers and focusing in school and now we know there’s a physical reason and a management protocol that can assist her. Not only is her life changed, but ours, her classmates and teachers – she is literally dripping with friends!” – From the Mother of a child evaluated at the Center

About Us

The Able Kids Foundation was established to focus on eliminating barriers. Dr. Joan Burleigh and Jo Waldron co-founded the Foundation due to their dedication to providing information, research results, access, technology and a focus on abilities rather than disabilities to children (and adults) through schools and exempt organizations.

Notwithstanding the strides made in disability rights in the past 25 years, the majority of people with disabilities are poor, under-employed and under-educated due largely to unequal opportunities. People with disabilities constitute the largest minority group in the United States, making up an estimated 20 percent of the total population. It is a diverse group, crossing lines of age, ethnicity, gender, race, sexual orientation and socioeconomic status.

The Able Kids Foundation and our partners will provide education and alternatives for individuals with disabilities, beginning with auditory challenges, for schools, senior centers, public facilities, service organizations, hospitals, corporations and professional associations
